Ely,

Max was awesome this year and I'm glad I went to your talk. It was a last minute thing and totally worth it. I am really excited about Flex 4 and I can't wait to use it at work. Thanks for the chat after your talk though I ended up talking to Matt Chotin more than you. I might just pop by and say hi after your talk in SF on Oct 27th if I can survive the long drive after work.

Thanks,
Pratima

I love the stuff you do with Flex it is very cool!! I have been working with flex since 1.5 and looking at Flex 4 I am currently not sure what I think.

All the work I have done in Flex is for corporate america apps, so nothing really fancy gui wise. But sometimes there is a need to be able to do styling that is more then CSS offers in Flex 3. Which is the reason for where adobe is going with Flex 4. But I wonder if the pendulum hasn't swung to much the other way with Flex 4. Maybe even chasing the only thing silverlight has. Granted you can still use Flex 3 components in Flex 4. But if you want to take advantage of some of the Flex 4 stuff and don't want to go all the way to the point of having a designer create you a look and feel for a simple maintenance screen, is there a middle ground. I know there is catalyst and I believe that will be the key to the success or failure of Flex 4. But now I have to have a separate tool up just to change the style of a button, or figure out how to write 50 lines of mxml.

I think a large part of the Flex community doesn't get to create the wild fancy apps that you often see demoed. Of course we all want to but we also have to pay the bills and build the functional apps. So I am curious what your thoughts are on Flex 4 and beyond for the simple UI corporate app.

thanks

Thanks Ely.
This was a great talk and I'm very excited about the future of Flex. The integration of 3D (Papervision like) traits will help make my applications really ‘come alive’ to my users!

Thanks again,
