October 21st, 2009
The full video of my session at MAX this year — “What’s new in Flex 4″ — is now available on adobe tv. Watch it here.
I’ve also posted the slides for you browse in bed with a warm cup of hot chocolate.
Sample Files from Max 2009

The source I used for some of the demos in the “What’s new in Flex 4″ talk at the Adobe Max conference in L.A. are now available for download here. If you have a moment, add a comment below with any feedback about the examples, the talk, the project, or just to say hi…I’m always curious to hear from people who are learning about Flex 4.
These samples should work with the beta that was released a few weeks ago. Let me know if you have any problems with it.
Thanks to everyone who attended the talk and the conference overall. It’s always a great learning experience to meet so many developers who make their living off of flex and hear about the amazing things you all do with it (not to mention the pain it causes you).
Deepa “Helm’s Deep” Subramaniam
October 23rd, 2008
You would think, after working on Flex for more then five years, that I know most of the sordid details regarding my Flex teammates’ lives. Well…no. In this morning’s status meeting, I was privy to some new information. Deepa Subramaniam, developer extraordinaire for Flex, is a big dork. Because the first thing she thought of when she heard that Matt Chotin’s middle name was ‘Helm’ was:
“It’s like Helm’s Deep!”
Oh, Deepa…
Where’s Ely?
August 28th, 2006
You most likely haven’t noticed that I haven’t posted anything here in about 2 months. I took off on vacation shortly after shipping Flex 2, and have managed to stay pretty far away from the internet ever since. But I’m back, and hope to be posting some more examples as soon as I shake the trail dust off.
In the intervening months I’ve noticed a few comments and emails about some of the examples missing necessary source or not being correctly updated to the final Player9/Flex2. Sorry about that. I expect to have them up to date in the next week or so.
In the meantime, please enjoy a free edition of Where’s Ely:
